Travel Nursing Job Details

PACU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in New Mexico
• At least 2 years of professional nursing experience
• Recent Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience required
• Preoperative nursing experience preferred
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
• Ability to work day shifts and participate in scheduled night and weekend call
• Ability to report to the facility within 30 minutes when called in for a case
• Comfort caring primarily for adult patients, with occasional ENT cases

Acute Care PACU Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, attentive nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia
• Support preoperative preparation, assessment, and coordination of surgical patients
• Monitor patients closely during post-anesthesia recovery and promptly identify changes in condition
• Care for patients with common surgical diagnoses, including appendicitis and gallbladder conditions
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation using CQI and Medhost systems
• Work within a collaborative three-bed PACU and preoperative unit with typical patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2
• Participate in overnight and weekend call coverage as scheduled
• Support PACU and preoperative services without an expectation to float to other departments
