Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a NICU II/III position requiring at least 2 years of NICU experience and a SC or compact RN license.

Details

  • Level II/III NICU setting caring for neonates 22+ weeks gestation with complex diagnoses including HIE, RDS, sepsis, congenital anomalies, and drug exposure/withdrawal
  • Performs specialized procedures such as full body cooling, chest tube management, tracheostomy care, and surgical anomaly repair support
  • Utilizes specialized equipment including Artic Sun, jet ventilators, HFOV, Draeger ventilators, HFNC, bubble CPAP, and various incubator/warmer systems
  • Uses Pyxis/Omnicell medication systems and EPIC EMR for documentation
  • Night shift schedule of 4x12 hours (1900-0730) with no call, or 3x12 hours with bi-weekly call requirement
  • Every other weekend coverage required unless staffing needs change
  • Floating to other NICU units or facilities required based on census needs, limited to competency-verified units

Requirements

  • Active RN license (SC or Compact)
  • Current BLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required, with consideration given to candidates with 1+ years of recent unit experience
  • Minimum 1 year of EPIC EMR experience required
  • NICU II and III experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, UAC/UVC management, and neonatal medication administration
  • Experience with ventilator management, respiratory support modalities, and high-frequency oscillation
  • Competent in neonatal-specific care including thermoregulation, phototherapy, NAS care, and post-surgical abdominal care
  • Travel nursing experience required

  • Provide comprehensive NICU-level nursing care across a wide range of neonatal diagnoses and post-surgical needs
  • Support developmental care practices and family-centered education
  • Manage complex respiratory and cardiovascular monitoring equipment
  • Orientation held weekly on Mondays with annual compliance training required
  • Pre-assignment testing and modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • Travelers must reside more than 100 miles from any Prisma Health facility to be eligible for full travel pay, with reduced rates for those 90-99.9 miles away
  • Travelers cannot extend beyond a third consecutive 13-week contract without transitioning to employee status
