Description

American Traveler is hiring a NICU RN with NICU II/III experience and at least 2 years of recent NICU experience for a night shift assignment.

Details

  • Level II/III NICU setting caring for neonates 22 weeks gestation and greater
  • Patient diagnoses include abdominal wall defects, HIE, RDS/RFS, drug exposure/withdrawal, hypoglycemia, sepsis, TEF, duodenal atresia, diaphragmatic hernia, urethral stenosis, myelomeningocele, and ROP
  • Special procedures include full body cooling, chest tube management, surgical repair of non-cardiac anomalies, tracheostomy management, and Avastin administration with laser eye surgery
  • Uses specialized equipment including Artic Sun, Blanketroll, Jet Ventilator, HFOV, Draeger Ventilator, HFNC, Bubble CPAP, Alaris, Philips central monitors, B Braun and Infinity feeding pumps, Atom and GE dual incubators, Dreager Caleos, and radiant warmers
  • Option to work 4x12 night shifts (1900-0730) with no call, or 3x12 night shifts with call requiring at least one 12-hour call shift bi-weekly
  • Every other weekend coverage required unless facility needs change
  • Floating to other NICU units or facilities may be required based on census needs
  • Uses EPIC for documentation and Pyxis/Omnicell for medication dispensing

Requirements

  • Active SC or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
  • NICU II and III experience required
  • At least 1 year of recent EPIC EMR experience required
  • 1:2 patient ratio experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy, blood and blood product administration, arterial line management, central line care, UAC/UVC management, and neonatal medication administration
  • Experience with high-frequency ventilation, nitric oxide therapy, chest tube management, and tracheostomy care
  • Experience with therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket) and VP shunt care
  • Skilled in gastrointestinal care including gastroschisis/omphalocele and NEC management
  • Two professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive NICU nursing care including developmental care, patient/family teaching, and neonatal abstinence syndrome management
  • Perform respiratory care duties including ventilator management, suctioning, and oxygen delivery system monitoring
  • Manage cardiovascular monitoring and infectious disease precautions for neonatal sepsis cases
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Orientation held every Monday with annual compliance requirements
  • Pre-assignment testing and modules required to be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • Travelers must reside more than 100 miles from any facility within the health system to maintain full eligibility, with reduced eligibility between 90-99.9 miles
