Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Level III/IV NICU position requiring at least 1 year of NICU experience, Epic proficiency, and an active SC or compact RN license.
Details
- Night shift position working 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30) with no on-call, or 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30) with a minimum of one 12-hour call shift bi-weekly
- Every other weekend coverage required, subject to change based on unit need
- Floating to other NICU units or facilities within the health system may be required based on census needs; float assignments are limited to areas where competency has been established
- Patient population includes neonates from 22 weeks gestation and above with diagnoses including HIE, RDS, NEC, sepsis, drug exposure/withdrawal, diaphragmatic hernia, myelomeningocele, TEF, duodenal atresia, gastroschisis/omphalocele, and ROP
- Patient ratio is 1:2
- Specialized procedures include full body cooling, chest tube management, tracheostomy management, surgical anomaly recovery (excluding cardiac), and Avastin administration/laser eye surgery support
- Specialized equipment includes Arctic Sun, BlanketRoll, Jet Ventilator, HFOV, Draeger Ventilator, HFNC, Bubble CPAP, Alaris pumps, Philips central monitoring, B Braun and Infinity feeding pumps, Atom and GE Dual Incubators, Draeger Caleos, radiant warmers, external shunts, and ostomy supplies
- EMR: Epic (minimum 1 year of experience required)
- Medication system: Pyxis/Omnicell
Requirements
- Active SC RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Required certifications: BLS, NRP, and STABLE
- Minimum 1 year of recent NICU experience required
- Minimum 1 year of Epic EMR experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- NICU Level III experience required; Level IV experience preferred
- Proficiency in neonatal skills including UAC/UVC management, therapeutic hypothermia, high-frequency ventilation, Bubble CPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy care, chest tube management, arterial line management, central line care, and neonatal dosage calculations
- Must reside more than 100 miles from all facilities within the health system to be eligible for this position
- Driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide complex neonatal nursing care to critically ill neonates from 22 weeks gestation and above across a wide range of surgical and medical diagnoses
- Pre-assignment testing and online modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials; modules are completed prior to start and reviewed annually
- Orientation is held every Monday
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
- Travelers who have worked three consecutive 13-week contracts (39 weeks) with this health system must either convert to employee status or take a minimum six-month break before returning as a traveler
