Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced NICU RN for a night shift role requiring NICU II/III experience and at least one year of Epic EMR experience.

Details

• 13-week NICU assignment on night shift (4x12, 1900-0730) with no call, or 3x12 with bi-weekly 12-hour call shift
• Every other weekend coverage required unless facility needs change
• Float to other NICU units or facilities as needed based on census
• Cares for neonates 22 weeks gestation and older with diagnoses including HIE, RDS, sepsis, congenital anomalies, drug withdrawal, and ROP
• Performs special procedures including full body cooling, chest tube management, tracheostomy care, and Avastin administration/laser eye surgery
• Utilizes specialized equipment including Artic Sun, jet and HFOV ventilators, Draeger ventilators, HFNC, bubble CPAP, and dual incubators
• Documentation via Epic EMR and unit medication systems via Pyxis/Omnicell

Requirements

• Active SC RN license or compact license required
• BLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
• NICU II and III experience required
• At least 1 year of recent NICU experience preferred by unit
• Minimum 1 year of Epic EMR experience required
• Travel nursing experience required
• Patient ratio experience of 1:2
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, arterial and central line management, UAC/UVC care, and administration of emergency and vasopressor medications
• Experienced in neonatal-specific care including therapeutic hypothermia, ventilator management, NEC, and neonatal abstinence syndrome

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive NICU nursing care including respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, and neurologic support for critically ill neonates
• Support surgical anomaly repairs (excluding cardiac) and post-operative recovery
• Participate in developmental care and family education initiatives
• Orientation occurs weekly on Mondays with annual compliance training required
• Pre-assignment testing and modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Travelers must reside more than 100 miles from any Prisma Health facility to be eligible, with reduced rates for 90-99.9 miles
