Description

American Traveler is hiring a NICU RN for a night-shift assignment requiring 2+ years of Level III NICU experience and an active NJ or Compact RN license.

Details

  • Level IV NICU with 37 beds including a Special Care Nursery, part of a 628-bed academic medical center
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00-07:30
  • Care for neonates 29-34 weeks and >34 weeks gestation
  • 21-bed NICU and 16-bed SCN units
  • Ratios of 1:2 in NICU and 1:3-4 in SCN
  • Will not attend high-risk deliveries
  • Every other weekend requirement (Saturday and Sunday)
  • Must work 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays per unit needs
  • Floating required within skillset to Newborn, Peds, and PICU for appropriate assignments
  • EPIC charting experience required

Requirements

  • Active NJ or Compact RN license required
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications required; PALS preferred
  • 2+ years of current Level III NICU experience required (Level IV facility accepts Level III experience)
  • Experience with developmental care, patient/family teaching, phlebotomy, thermoregulation, blood glucose monitoring, phototherapy, isolation/PPE, and sepsis workup required
  • Experience with blood/blood product administration, arterial line management, central/implanted line care, IV starts/maintenance, and UAC/UVC required
  • Experience with neonatal medication administration including anti-seizure meds, antibiotics/antivirals, IV vasopressors, steroids, surfactants, insulin, and neonatal dose calculations required
  • Experience with breastfeeding support, breast milk handling, and bottle/breast/gavage feeding required
  • Experience with oral/NG/NJ tube placement and NEC management required
  • Respiratory experience required including bubble CPAP, HFNC, chest tube management, meconium aspiration, oxygen delivery systems, RDS, ETT/NT suctioning, Vapotherm, and vent management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BiPAP/PEEP)
  • Charge experience, jet vent/oscillator/ECMO experience, CritiCool body cooling, and experience receiving neonates via transport are preferred

  • Provide comprehensive NICU nursing care to critically ill neonates requiring advanced respiratory support, invasive monitoring, and complex medical/surgical interventions
  • Facility offers advanced capabilities including high-frequency ventilation, ECMO, and therapeutic hypothermia
