Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift NICU RN for a Level IV academic NICU requiring 2+ years of Level III (or higher) NICU experience and an active NJ or Compact RN license.

Details

  • 21-bed NICU and 16-bed SCN unit within a Level IV academic medical center
  • Cares for neonates 29-34 weeks and greater than 34 weeks gestation
  • Ratios of 1:2 in NICU and 1:3-4 in SCN
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:30)
  • Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday)
  • Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Must work 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays per unit needs
  • Floats within skillset to Newborn, Peds, and PICU as needed
  • Does not attend high-risk deliveries
  • EPIC charting experience required

Requirements

  • Active NJ or Compact RN license required
  • BLS and NRP certifications required; PALS preferred
  • 2+ years of current Level III (or higher) NICU experience required
  • Proficient in developmental care, patient/family teaching, phlebotomy, thermoregulation, blood glucose monitoring, phototherapy, isolation/PPE, and sepsis workup
  • Skilled in blood/blood product administration, A-line management, central/implanted line care, IV starts/maintenance, and UAC/UVC
  • Experience with neonatal medication administration including anti-seizure, antibiotics/antivirals, IV vasopressors, steroids, surfactants, and neonatal dose calculations
  • Competent in GI/nutrition care including breastfeeding support, breast milk handling, and bottle/breast/gavage feedings, NEC management, and oral/NG/NJ tube placement
  • Respiratory skills required including bubble CPAP, HFNC, chest tube management, oxygen delivery systems, RDS care, ETT/NT suctioning, Vapotherm, and ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BiPAP/PEEP)
  • Charge experience, jet vents, oscillators, ECMO, CritiCool body cooling, and transport experience preferred

  • Part of a 37-bed Level IV NICU providing advanced respiratory support, high-frequency ventilation, ECMO, therapeutic hypothermia, invasive monitoring, and complex medical/surgical care within a 628-bed academic medical center
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply

  • Former health system employees (full-time or PRN) must have been separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
