Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Neonatal ICU (NICU) role requiring 2 years of Level 4 NICU experience and a CA RN license.

Details

  • Level 4 NICU setting within a children's hospital with 60 staffed beds
  • 13 or 18 week assignment length
  • Variable day/night or straight night shifts on a 3x12 schedule (7:00-19:00 or 19:00-7:00)
  • Must be available to work weekends with full flexibility, no specific weekend pattern
  • No on-call requirements
  • Required to float within scope of practice to PICU, CTICU, and Med Surg units
  • May be required to float to NICU satellite campuses (Rancho Springs, Palomar, Scripps Encinitas, Scripps La Jolla, and Scripps Mercy) with mileage reimbursed
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • No block scheduling accommodations available

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required in hand, or an ETA for licensure posting required for consideration
  • Current BLS certification required; Advanced NRP required; PALS preferred
  • 2 years of recent Level 4 NICU experience required
  • Will consider strong Level 3 NICU candidates with surgical experience from a unit performing surgeries on newborns
  • Cardiac experience required
  • Experience with oscillator, conventional ventilator, CPAP, and nasal cannula specialty gases required
  • Experience with PICC lines, Broviacs, UAC/UVC/PAL lines, trachs, ostomies, and G-tubes required
  • Comfort with line changes involving multiple drips and pre/post-op care required
  • Must have own transportation for floating to satellite locations
  • SSN and accurate DOB required for submission

  • Provide care to neonatal ICU patients including high-risk deliveries, respiratory management, and pre/post-op surgical care
  • Facility is a Magnet-recognized, Level 1 trauma teaching hospital named among the Top 10 Best Children's Hospitals in the Nation
  • Scrub color is unrestricted
  • Free traveler parking provided
  • Must work 2 of the following 3 holidays, including Eves: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
  • No holiday RTO allowed and maximum RTO is 6 days
  • Strong first-time travelers with Level 4 NICU experience will be considered
  • Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
  • Former permanent staff must be separated for at least 1 year before being eligible to travel
  • Travelers who complete a 1-year assignment must wait 90 days before returning as a traveler at this health system
