Description

American Traveler is hiring a Level III NICU RN for night shift at a teaching hospital requiring NRP certification and prior Level III/IV NICU experience.

Details

  • Level III NICU setting caring for neonates from 22 weeks gestation and above, including those under 24-28 weeks
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30)
  • Patient ratio of 1:2-3
  • Uses EPIC for documentation and Pyxis for medication administration
  • Manages respiratory support including ventilator settings (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
  • Performs arterial line management, central line care, UAC/UVC management, and IV therapy
  • Administers IV vasopressors, surfactants, and steroids
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary team including NP, pharmacy, respiratory, PT, radiology, and social services

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of NICU experience required
  • Prior experience in Level III and Level IV NICU settings required
  • Competency in cardiovascular dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Proficient in gastrointestinal feeding methods and tube placement/management (oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal)
  • Experience with infection control measures and isolation precautions/PPE
  • Experience managing neonatal abstinence syndrome
  • Nursing education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program required
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor; charge RN acceptable for second reference; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide specialized care addressing respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, infectious disease, and neurologic needs of neonates
  • Care for neonates requiring surgical or cardiac interventions
  • Implements SBAR communication method with healthcare providers and families
  • Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process urgently upon signing contract, including travel to an in-state fingerprinting location if outside Ohio
  • RTO must be submitted and built into contract prior to start, limited to 7 days or less
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
  • Current employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are ineligible to be hired as a traveler
