Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN with Level III/IV experience to provide specialized neonatal care on night shift.

Details

  • Level III NICU setting caring for neonates from 22 weeks gestation and above, including those under 24-28 weeks
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00-7:30
  • Patient ratio of 1:2-3
  • Documentation performed in EPIC
  • Medication administration via Pyxis system, including IV vasopressors, surfactants, and steroids
  • Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team including NPs, pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, respiratory services, social services, and unit secretary

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of NICU experience required
  • Prior experience in Level III and Level IV NICU settings required
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Competency in cardiovascular dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Proficient in gastrointestinal feeding methods and management of oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tubes
  • Experience with IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, and umbilical artery/vein catheter management
  • Experience managing ventilator settings (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
  • Experience with neonatal abstinence syndrome interventions
  • 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or Supervisor; Charge RN acceptable for second reference; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide specialized neonatal care focused on respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, and infectious disease management
  • Perform specialized procedures including arterial line management, central line care, and UAC/UVC management
  • Utilize SBAR communication method to ensure effective interaction with healthcare providers and families
  • Care for neonates with conditions such as respiratory distress, glucose management issues, and those requiring surgical or cardiac interventions
  • Locals are accepted at the same rate
  • RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at this health system
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to urgent credentialing timelines
  • First-time travelers are not being considered for this position
