- Patient Population: Neonates, including infants born at 22 weeks gestation and above
- Daily Census: Approximately 30 patients

NICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license in Ohio or a valid compact RN license in hand at the time of submission
- At least 1 year of professional nursing experience, including Level III or Level IV NICU experience
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Graduate of an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
- Experience with Epic electronic health records preferred
- Demonstrated competency caring for neonates less than 24–28 weeks gestation
- Flu vaccination required; medical exemptions may be considered
- Ability to float to other units within the health system as needed
- Two professional references required, including at least one supervisor, manager, director, or other formal clinical leader
- Ability to complete Ohio fingerprinting and credentialing requirements promptly after accepting the assignment
Travel NICU RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive, individualized nursing care to critically ill and premature neonates in a Level III NICU
- Monitor and manage respiratory distress, glucose management concerns, and complex medical conditions
- Care for neonates requiring surgical or cardiac interventions and coordinate transfers to a pediatric specialty center when indicated
- Manage ventilator settings and respiratory support modalities, including AC, PC, SIMV, CPAP, BiPAP, and PEEP
- Administer medications and therapies such as IV vasopressors, surfactants, and steroids using established safety protocols
- Perform arterial line management, central and implanted line care, and umbilical artery and umbilical vein catheter management
- Support neonatal abstinence syndrome interventions and ongoing assessment
- Provide gastrointestinal feeding care, including bottle, breast, gavage, oral, nasogastric, and nasojejunal tube management
- Interpret and respond to cardiovascular dysrhythmias and changes in patient condition
- Apply infection-control practices, isolation precautions, and safe IV therapy techniques
- Document accurately in Epic and communicate patient updates using the SBAR method
- Partner with advanced practice providers, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, physical therapy, social services, interpretation services, and unit support staff
- Educate and support families while promoting safe, respectful, family-centered neonatal care
