NICU Travel Nurse (RN) – Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Fort Wayne, Indiana

Travel Nursing Job Details

• Assignment Type: 13-week travel Registered Nurse assignment
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130–$2,250
• Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana
• Start Date: November 2, 2026
• End Date: February 1, 2027
• Schedule: 36 hours per week on 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.; typically three shifts weekly
• Healthcare Setting: 31-bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
• Patient Assignment: 1:1 or 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Charting and Equipment: EPIC electronic health record (EHR) charting and Pyxis medication administration
• Orientation: Mandatory weekday orientation during the first two weeks, including seven required orientation days
• Additional Flexibility: May float to age-appropriate Pediatric or PICU assignments
• Dress Code: Caribbean blue scrubs

NICU Travel Nurse Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent Level III NICU Registered Nurse experience
• Current Indiana Registered Nurse (RN) license, or eligibility to obtain one
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Strong neonatal assessment, critical-thinking, and clinical decision-making skills
• Ability to work scheduled night shifts and participate fully in mandatory orientation

NICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to premature, critically ill, and medically complex neonates
• Monitor patient status, recognize changes in condition, and respond promptly to clinical needs
• Administer medications and treatments safely according to established protocols
• Use EPIC and Pyxis systems accurately for clinical documentation and medication management
• Collaborate with neonatologists, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Support families through education, communication, and compassionate bedside care
• Maintain a safe, organized, and developmentally appropriate environment for NICU patients
• Float to age-appropriate Pediatric or PICU assignments when needed and within demonstrated competency
