NICU Registered Nurse (RN) Travel Assignment – 12-Hour Night Shifts in Fort Wayne, Indiana

Join a dedicated neonatal nursing team as a NICU Registered Nurse (RN) in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This 13-week travel nursing assignment offers the opportunity to provide compassionate, evidence-based care to newborns in an acute-care Level II NICU while collaborating with experienced neonatologists, neonatal providers, and nurses. The unit supports focused 1:1 or 1:2 patient-to-nurse ratios and uses EPIC electronic charting and Pyxis medication administration.

NICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with at least 2 years of Level III NICU experience
  • Current Indiana RN license or eligibility to obtain an Indiana nursing license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Strong neonatal assessment, critical-thinking, and family-centered communication skills
  • Flexibility to float to age-appropriate pediatric or PICU assignments when needed

NICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive neonatal nursing care to premature, critically ill, and medically fragile newborns
  • Perform ongoing patient assessments, monitor clinical changes, and promptly escalate concerns
  • Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with provider orders and NICU standards
  • Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in EPIC
  • Support respiratory, nutritional, developmental, and family-centered care plans
  • Collaborate with neonatologists, advanced practice providers, registered nurses, and ancillary care teams
  • Educate and support families throughout the newborn’s hospitalization
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and compassionate environment for newborns and their families
