Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced NICU RN for a Level IV neonatal intensive care unit requiring at least 2 years of NICU experience and a TX or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in a Level IV NICU within a children's hospital and Level II pediatric trauma center
  • Patient ratios of 1:2-4
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
  • Block scheduling required with 6 weekend shifts within a 6 week period, self-scheduled
  • Floating between units required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • 48-hour work weeks approved

Requirements

  • Active TX or compact RN license required
  • BLS and NRP Advanced certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required, Level III experience preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Experience with neonates across gestational ages including <24-28 weeks, 29-34 weeks, and >34 weeks
  • Skilled in IV therapy, arterial and central line management, UAC/UVC care, and administration of blood products and emergency medications
  • Experience with respiratory care including CPAP, high frequency ventilation, oscillators, and ventilator management
  • Experience with neonatal conditions such as NEC, sepsis, hyperbilirubinemia, and seizure disorders
  • 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive neonatal intensive care including developmental care and patient/family teaching
  • Navy scrub color required for RNs
  • Free parking available in unrestricted spaces with bike racks on site
  • Floating to sister facilities within the region may be required
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront; minimal RTO is preferred to expedite processing
  • Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel rates
  • Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they reside outside the 50-mile radius
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply for this position
