Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a Level IV NICU position requiring at least 2 years of NICU experience and a TX or compact RN license in hand.

Details

• Level IV Neonatal ICU within a Children's Hospital and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center
• Cares for neonates ranging from under 24-28 weeks to over 34 weeks gestation
• Patient ratios of 1:2-4
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Block schedule required with 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week period, self-scheduled
• Floating between units required
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required, Level III experience preferred
• Current BLS and NRP Advanced certifications required
• Experience with IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, UAC/UVC, and administration of blood products
• Proficiency with neonatal medication administration including vasopressors, anti-seizure medications, antibiotics, and surfactants
• Skilled in respiratory care including ventilator management, high frequency ventilation, oscillators, and nitric oxide therapy
• Experience with neonatal conditions such as NEC, gastroschisis/omphalocele, and neonatal abstinence syndrome
• Epic charting experience required

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive care to critically ill neonates including thermoregulation, developmental care, and patient/family education
• Perform APGAR scoring and assist with procedures such as lumbar puncture and ICP monitoring
• Manage complex cases involving respiratory distress syndrome, sepsis, and hyperbilirubinemia
• Support breastfeeding and manage various feeding methods including gavage feeding
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities near the contracted location
• Navy scrub color required for RNs
• Free parking available in unrestricted spaces with bike racks
• Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate within a 50-mile radius
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a travel nurse and must reside outside a 50-mile radius
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
