Travel NICU Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Contract in Lubbock, Texas

Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,980–$2,090
- Location: Lubbock, Texas
- Healthcare Setting: Advanced pediatric hospital; Level III/IV NICU environment
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- End Date: February 1, 2027
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
- Shift Duration: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
- Scheduling: Self-scheduling with block scheduling expectations
- Weekend Requirement: Six weekend shifts during each six-week scheduling period; coverage may vary
- Call: Not required
- Patient Population: Neonates, including premature infants and critically ill newborns
- Typical Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:2–4
- Unit Capacity: 43 NICU beds with an average daily census of approximately 35
NICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Texas; compact license must be in hand when applicable
- At least 2 years of recent NICU nursing experience required
- Level III NICU experience strongly preferred; experience in a Level IV environment is a plus
- Current BLS and NRP certifications
- Recent experience caring for neonates with prematurity, respiratory distress, hypoglycemia, sepsis, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, and surgical conditions
- Epic electronic health record experience required
- Ability to float as needed to pediatric, PICU, pediatric emergency, or nearby pediatric units
- Two professional references covering at least one year of experience within the last three years
- Strong communication, clinical judgment, adaptability, and commitment to family-centered care
Travel NICU RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill and premature neonates
- Monitor respiratory, neurologic, cardiovascular, and metabolic status and promptly escalate changes in condition
- Manage ventilated patients and advanced respiratory support, including CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, oscillators, and other neonatal ventilation modalities
- Administer medications, blood products, IV vasopressors, surfactants, antibiotics, insulin, and other therapies safely
- Manage central lines, UACs, UVCs, arterial lines, chest tubes, feeding tubes, tracheostomies, and other neonatal equipment
- Support neonatal procedures, sepsis evaluations, therapeutic hypothermia, phototherapy, thermoregulation, and developmental care
- Provide feeding support, breast milk handling, patient and family education, and compassionate emotional support
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, specialists, interpreters, and other members of the care team
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in Epic
- Float to designated pediatric units when needed while maintaining safe, high-quality patient care
