Travel NICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Level III/IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Lubbock, Texas

Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,980–$2,090
- Location: Lubbock, Texas
- Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse contract
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- Duration: 13 weeks, with potential opportunities to extend
- Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week, from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Unit: High-acuity NICU with approximately 43 beds and a daily census of about 35 patients
- Patient Population: Neonates, including premature infants and infants requiring advanced respiratory and surgical care
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:2–4
- Weekend Requirement: Six weekend shifts during a six-week scheduling period; scheduling is self-directed and variable
- Floating: As needed to pediatric, PICU, or pediatric emergency areas and potentially nearby sister facilities
- Call: Not required
Travel NICU Registered Nurse Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; compact license must be in hand at submission when applicable
- At least 2 years of recent NICU nursing experience
- Level III NICU experience strongly preferred; experience in a Level IV NICU environment is a plus
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Recent experience caring for neonates with prematurity, respiratory distress, hypoglycemia, sepsis, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, and postoperative needs
- Experience with Epic or another electronic health record system required; Epic experience preferred
- Strong neonatal assessment, critical-thinking, communication, and family education skills
- Ability to float between appropriate pediatric care areas and collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams
- Two professional references covering at least one year of experience within the past three years
NICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill neonates in a high-acuity neonatal intensive care unit
- Monitor and manage infants with respiratory distress, sepsis, hypoglycemia, prematurity, HIE, and complex surgical conditions
- Manage advanced respiratory support, including ventilators, CPAP, bubble CPAP, HFNC, oscillators, and nitric oxide therapy
- Administer medications, blood products, surfactants, vasopressors, insulin, antibiotics, and other neonatal therapies safely
- Care for central lines, UACs, UVCs, arterial lines, chest tubes, feeding tubes, tracheostomies, and other specialized equipment
- Perform neonatal assessments, dosage calculations, glucose monitoring, thermoregulation, phototherapy, and therapeutic hypothermia care
- Support feeding plans, breastfeeding and breast milk handling, developmental care, and parent or caregiver education
- Recognize changes in patient condition and promptly communicate concerns to providers and the interdisciplinary care team
- Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record
- Promote safe, compassionate, evidence-based care for neonates and their families
