Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a NICU position requiring 3+ years of Level III/IV NICU experience and a WA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Level III/IV NICU setting caring for neonates from 23-24 weeks gestation and up
  • 77-bed unit with an average census of 50
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
  • 1:2 patient ratio
  • Dedicated Admit Nurse typically handles admissions, so travelers rarely admit babies
  • Rare floating, but may occur to Issaquah or Edmonds SCN, or to Pediatrics/NBN caring for newborns only
  • Attends high-risk deliveries and neonatal surgeries
  • Utilizes CPAP/BiPAP, high frequency vents, oscillators, and ventilators
  • Performs blood/blood product administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, and cooling/warming blanket therapy
  • Manages feeding tubes, PICC/central lines, and syringe pumps
  • Block scheduling available for those preferring 3 or more consecutive shifts
  • Epic EMR preferred

Requirements

  • Active WA state or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of submission
  • Minimum 3 years of Level III NICU experience, or 2 years of Level IV NICU experience required
  • BLS and NRP certifications required
  • Skilled in IV therapy and administration of blood/blood products
  • Central line/implanted line care experience required
  • Experience with gastrointestinal feedings (bottle, breast, gavage) and placement/management of oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tubes
  • Proficient in neonatal medication administration, emergency medications, and neonatal dosage calculations
  • Experience caring for neonates <24-28 weeks, 29-34 weeks, and >34 weeks
  • Experience with therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket) and ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BiPAP/PEEP)
  • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
  • Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provides direct nursing care to critically ill neonates in a high-acuity NICU environment
  • Previous permanent employees of any Providence-affiliated facility must be separated from the health system for a minimum of 3 months to qualify, and must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
  • Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities within the region
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • RTO requests must be submitted upfront at time of application, as post-offer requests may not be accommodated
  • First-time travelers are not preferred for this role
  • Local candidates accepted at standard travel bill rate
  • Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are subject to local radius rules
