Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level III/IV NICU position requiring 3+ years of NICU experience and BLS/NRP certification.

Details

  • Level III/IV NICU unit with 77 beds and an average census of 50
  • Cares for neonates ranging from under 24 weeks to over 34 weeks gestation, including high-risk deliveries and neonatal surgeries
  • Typical patient ratio is 1:2
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Block scheduling available for those who prefer 3 or more consecutive shifts
  • Utilizes CPAP/BiPAP, high frequency vents, oscillators, standard vents, cooling/warming blankets, PICC/central lines, feeding tubes, and syringe pumps
  • Performs blood/blood product administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, and neonatal dosage calculations
  • Admissions are typically handled by a dedicated Admit Nurse
  • Rare floating requirement, potentially to Issaquah or Edmonds SCN, or to Pediatrics/NBN for newborn care only
  • Must be open to floating to different campuses within the health system

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of submission
  • BLS and NRP certifications required
  • Minimum 3 years of NICU experience required (Level III NICU) or 2 years at Level IV NICU
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Experience with IV therapy, blood/blood product administration, central/implanted line care, and neonatal tube feedings required
  • Skilled in gastrointestinal feedings (bottle, breast, gavage) and placement/management of oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tubes
  • Experience with medication administration including emergency medications and neonatal dosage calculations
  • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required, may include Charge RNs/Leads
  • Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provides direct care to neonates including therapeutic hypothermia, ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BiPAP/PEEP), and neurologic and respiratory support
  • Attends high-risk deliveries and assists with neonatal surgeries
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • All RTO and specific scheduling requests must be submitted upfront; post-offer RTO requests may not be granted
  • Former Providence permanent employees must be separated from the health system for at least 3 months and reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify
  • Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
  • Local radius rule of 50 miles applies
  • First-time travelers are not preferred for this position
