Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Neuro Progressive Care Unit position requiring a VA or Compact RN license and telemetry experience at a Level I Trauma teaching hospital.

Details

  • Neuro PCU setting within an acute care teaching hospital
  • Adult patient population with neurological conditions including neurosurgical recovery, stroke management, and medical overflow
  • Unit includes 5 dedicated beds for continuous 24-hour epilepsy monitoring
  • Patient ratios of 1:4-5
  • Night shift, 3x12s, 6:45p-7:15a
  • Weekend requirement of every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week scheduling block
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Floating required to units within clinical skillset

Requirements

  • Active VA or Compact RN license required
  • Pending license accepted only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Experience with Rapid Response/Code teams
  • IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care experience
  • Medication administration experience including cardiac drips (no titration)
  • Respiratory support skills including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
  • Isolation precautions and PPE knowledge required
  • Previous charge experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care for neurological patients including stroke and neurosurgical recovery cases
  • Facility is a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated teaching hospital affiliated with a medical school
  • Certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center with 24/7 neurointerventional coverage
  • Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
  • Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • First-time travelers welcome to apply

  • Previous employees must be separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
