Job Details

  • Setting: Acute care Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) unit
  • Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM
  • Schedule: 3 shifts per week; every other weekend required
  • Weekly Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,130 - $2,250
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Charting System: EPIC
  • Care Setting: Acute care
  • Location: Peoria, IL
  • Orientation: 2-3 shifts
  • Float: Rotation to other acute care general medicine areas as needed

Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
  • Minimum of 1 year of Med/Surg RN or acute care nursing experience
  • BLS certification required
  • Experience with central lines, tracheostomies, and chest tubes
  • EPIC experience strongly preferred
  • Travel nursing experience preferred; strong acute care experience in a level I trauma environment may be considered
  • Ability to support a fast-paced medical-surgical unit with varied patient acuity
  • Must be comfortable with every-other-weekend scheduling
  • Professional scrubs required; adherence to unit dress code and appearance standards
  • Ability to comply with drug screening and submission requirements

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients with a wide range of acute conditions
  • Care for patients with diagnoses such as sepsis, dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, anemia, diabetes complications, respiratory failure, kidney failure, and behavioral health needs
  • Monitor patient status and respond to changes in condition promptly and professionally
  • Perform and manage care related to central lines, tracheostomies, chest tubes, and other common Med/Surg interventions
  • Collaborate with charge nurses, support staff, and respiratory therapy as part of a strong interdisciplinary healthcare team
  • Use EPIC documentation accurately and efficiently
  • Provide patient education, safety monitoring, and compassionate bedside care
  • Adapt to floating assignments within other acute care general medicine areas when needed
