Travel Nursing Job Details

• Location: Peoria, Illinois
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130–$2,250

• Shift: 12-hour night shifts, typically 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend; Friday/Saturday nights
• Holiday Requirement: Holiday rotation per policy
• Call: Not required
• Orientation: Typically two 12-hour shifts with a unit preceptor
• Electronic Medical Record: EPIC
• Patient Ratios: Typically 5–6 patients per nurse on nights, with ratios varying by census and patient acuity

Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse license, or confirmation that the Illinois license application process has been initiated
• At least 1 year of acute-care hospital experience in a medical-surgical nursing setting
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, and clinical decision-making skills
• Ability to care for adult patients with varied medical diagnoses and changing acuity levels
• ACLS certification preferred for nurses interested in charge nurse responsibilities
• Willingness to float to other hospital units as needed

Travel RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients with a variety of diagnoses
• Assess patient status, develop and update individualized plans of care, and evaluate treatment outcomes
• Safely administer medications and titrate heparin drips according to clinical protocols
• Monitor patients requiring oxygen therapy up to 6 liters by nasal cannula, as well as stable BiPAP or CPAP at night or as needed
• Monitor telemetry patients in collaboration with the remote telemetry team and respond appropriately to changes in rhythm or condition
• Attempt peripheral IV starts and coordinate with unit resources when additional assistance is needed
• Collaborate with hospitalists, intensivists, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, patient care technicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Document assessments, interventions, medications, and patient responses accurately in EPIC
• Promote patient safety, patient education, comfort, and continuity of care throughout the travel assignment
