Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring ICU experience and hands-on craniotomy/EVD management skills.

Details

• Work in the Neuro ICU at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital
• Care for ICU and IMC patient populations, including neurosurgical, craniotomy, and EVD cases
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 1900-0730
• Every other weekend required
• Some holiday coverage required
• Floating required as needed
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active RN license (WI or Compact) currently in hand
• Current certifications: BLS and ACLS (AHA only)
• Minimum 2 years of acute care ICU experience within the last 3 years
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Hands-on experience with craniotomy and EVD management required
• Epic EMR experience required, within the past 12 months preferred
• Neurosurgery and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Must pass a telemetry exam with strict passing criteria prior to start
• Skilled in IV therapy, central/arterial/PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Skilled in ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and respiratory therapies (BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, suctioning)
• Skilled in titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous sedation, and neuromuscular blockade administration
• Skilled in neurological care including CVA/stroke management, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, and post-neurosurgery care
• Skilled in cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to complex neurosurgical and neuro ICU patients
• Responsibilities include post-craniotomy care, EVD and ICP monitoring, and management of traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries
• Facility is a Magnet-designated, Level I trauma teaching hospital ranked as Wisconsin's #1 hospital
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered; local candidates not accepted
• Parking permit required if parking onsite, with alternative transportation options available nearby
