Description

American Traveler is hiring a Critical Care Float RN requiring Level I Trauma academic center experience and a WI or compact RN license for a night shift float pool position.

Details

  • Float position within Critical Care covering multiple ICU units including Neuro ICU, Cardiothoracic ICU, Burn ICU, and Trauma Surgery ICU
  • Also covers IMC/Progressive and General Care patient populations
  • Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00-07:30
  • Every other weekend required with some holiday coverage
  • Floating required as needed across critical care units
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active WI RN license or compact RN license required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA only)
  • NIHSS and TNCC certifications preferred
  • Minimum 2 years acute care experience within the last 3 years in critical care specialty
  • 5 years of experience preferred
  • Academic Level I Trauma Center experience required
  • Prior travel nurse experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required, ideally within the past 12 months
  • Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central line and PICC line care, and blood product administration
  • Skilled in ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and ABG interpretation
  • Experience with titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Experience with CVVHD/CRRT
  • Experience in cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
  • Must pass a telemetry exam prior to starting

  • Must pass a telemetry competency exam with strict criteria, including 100% identification of lethal rhythms and an 80% or higher passing score on adult and pediatric exams
  • Up to two attempts allowed to pass the telemetry exam; a third attempt requires completion of a cardiac interpretation review course
  • Facility is a Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
  • References are not required for consideration
