Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring prior ICU experience, EVD/craniotomy management skills, and a WI or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in the Neuro ICU/Surgical ICU of a Magnet-designated teaching hospital
  • Care for ICU and IMC patient populations
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours, 1900-0730
  • Every other weekend required
  • Some holiday coverage required
  • Uses Epic EMR
  • Floating required as needed

Requirements

  • Active RN license (WI or compact) currently in hand
  • Current certifications: BLS and ACLS (AHA only)
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the Neuro ICU specialty
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Required experience managing craniotomy patients and external ventricular drains (EVDs)
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Neurosurgery experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Must pass a telemetry exam with strict criteria prior to starting, including 100% identification of lethal rhythms and an overall passing score of 80% or higher

  • Provide critical care nursing to neurosurgical and neurological ICU patients, including craniotomy and EVD management
  • Responsibilities include management of ICP monitoring, hypothermia protocols, ventilated patients, and multisystem organ dysfunction
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered; local candidates not accepted
  • Located at University Hospital in Madison, WI, a Magnet-designated facility ranked as Wisconsin's #1 hospital
