Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring at least 1 year of dedicated neuro ICU experience and a CO or compact RN license.

Details

• 24-bed Neurosurgical ICU within a Comprehensive Stroke Center and Level I Trauma Center
• High acuity, fast-paced surgical ICU setting
• 1:2 patient ratio
• Day and night rotating shifts (3x12 hours), various days of the week
• Weekend requirement per unit needs
• No on-call requirement
• Floating required, including to sister facilities in the Metro region per facility needs
• Charting completed in Epic

Requirements

• Active CO or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year in a dedicated Neuro specialty ICU
• Level II Trauma experience required, Level I Trauma experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Competency in hourly neurological assessments, ICP management, EVD/ventric management, subarachnoid hemorrhage management, post-thrombectomy care, and post-craniotomy management required

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to high-acuity neurosurgical ICU patients, including CVA/acute stroke, TBI, spinal cord injury, and post-neurosurgical cases
• Manage patients on continuous IV sedation, paralytics, vasoactive drips, and ventilator support
• Perform arterial and central line management, ABG interpretation, and hypothermia protocol care as needed
• Navy scrub color required
• Maximum of 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract, with blackout periods where RTO is not allowed
• No blocked scheduling requests permitted
• First-time travelers considered if experience requirements are met
• Candidates previously employed by the health system in any capacity may be ineligible for consideration
• Local candidates may be considered within a 75-mile radius of the facility
