Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring dedicated Neurosurgical ICU experience and Trauma Level II background.

Details

• 24-bed Neurosurgical ICU within a Comprehensive Stroke Center and Level I Trauma Center
• High acuity, fast-paced surgical ICU setting
• 1:2 patient ratio
• Day and night rotating shifts (3x12 hours), various days of the week
• Weekend shifts required per unit needs
• Floating required, including to sister facilities in the Metro Region
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active RN license (state or compact)
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a dedicated Neuro specialty ICU required
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Competency in hourly neurological assessment required
• Experience managing intracranial pressure, EVD/Ventric, subarachnoid hemorrhage, post-thrombectomy, and post-craniotomy patients required

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to high-acuity neurosurgical patients, including stroke, TBI, and post-craniotomy cases
• Manage complex interventions such as ICP monitoring, arterial and central lines, continuous IV sedation/paralytics, and vasoactive drip titration
• Support ventilator management and respiratory care, including BiPAP/CPAP, ABG interpretation, and fresh tracheostomy care
• Navy scrub color required
• First-time travelers considered if experience requirements are met
• Local candidates accepted within 75 miles of facility
• Max 10 RTO days per 13-week contract, with blackout periods during high-census times
• Candidates previously employed by UCHealth or its affiliates must disclose prior employment for eligibility review
• Return travelers who completed a full year on assignment in OR must wait at least one year before rebooking
