Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Neuro ICU RN for a night shift assignment requiring 2 years of neuro ICU experience and prior travel experience.

Details

• Neuro Intensive Care Unit setting at a teaching hospital
• 36 hours/week on night shift (3x12, 19:00-7:30)
• Weekend shifts defined as Friday and Saturday nights
• Required to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Uses Epic EMR
• Cares for critically ill neuro patients including CVA/acute stroke, TBI, spinal cord injury, and post-craniotomy/neurosurgery patients

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (AHA only)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience with strong Neuro ICU background required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Skilled in IV starts, telemetry, ventilator management, and intracranial pressure monitoring
• Experience with arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, and blood product administration
• Experience managing EVDs, lumbar drains, and titrating vasoactive/cardiac drips
• Education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program required
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director; charge RN acceptable as second reference; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to neurologically complex ICU patients including stroke, TBI, and post-surgical neuro cases
• Responsible for continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and cardiac/vasoactive drip titration
• Perform cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and 12-lead EKG acquisition
• Follow strict infection prevention and isolation precaution protocols
• First-time travelers will be screened prior to consideration
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6+ months away from the facility
• Current facility employees are ineligible for travel assignments at this health system
• RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Ohio fingerprinting must be completed urgently upon contract signing to remain compliant
