Join a collaborative Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Unit team as a Travel Registered Nurse in Tyler, Texas. This on-site travel nursing opportunity supports adult and geriatric patients in a 16-bed ICU with a typical 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio. ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or a valid compact-state license in hand at the time of submission
  • At least 1 year of professional nursing experience required; 2 years of ICU or critical care nursing experience preferred
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • NIHSS and PALS certifications preferred or required based on patient-care needs
  • Recent experience with Epic clinical documentation
  • Strong critical-thinking, patient assessment, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to complete required onboarding items and clinical modules within established timelines

Travel ICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill adult and geriatric patients
  • Assess patients, identify changes in condition, and promptly escalate clinical concerns
  • Manage ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, and chest tubes
  • Titrate cardiac and vasoactive infusions and manage continuous IV sedation and IV insulin protocols
  • Care for patients requiring CRRT, dysrhythmia management, stroke care, multisystem organ support, and post-operative monitoring
  • Interpret cardiac rhythms and arterial blood gases while supporting timely clinical interventions
  • Administer medications, blood products, and procedural sedation according to clinical standards
  • Collaborate with providers, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, physical therapy, phlebotomy, and rapid response teams
  • Document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes accurately in Epic
  • Float as assigned based on unit and schedule needs while maintaining high standards of patient care
