MICU Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Night Contract in Columbus, Ohio

MICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of recent Medical ICU or adult critical care nursing experience
• Current Registered Nurse license in hand; compact or Ohio RN license accepted
• Graduation from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
• Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications
• Current NIHSS certification
• Recent Epic documentation experience required
• Experience caring for mechanically ventilated patients and managing continuous IV sedation
• Competency with IV starts, telemetry, ventilator management, and interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction or failure
• Two professional references required, including at least one manager, director, supervisor, or other formal leader
• Ability to complete Ohio fingerprinting and credentialing requirements promptly
• Flu vaccination required; medical exemptions may be considered
• Willingness to float to other units as needed

Critical Care Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adult patients in a Medical Intensive Care Unit setting
• Monitor, assess, and respond to changes in patients experiencing respiratory failure, sepsis, post-cardiac arrest complications, diabetic ketoacidosis, liver failure, renal failure, COVID-related illness, and multisystem organ failure
• Care for mechanically ventilated patients and manage advanced respiratory support in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
• Administer and monitor continuous IV sedation and other high-risk infusions according to established protocols
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and manage patients with dysrhythmias
• Use equipment such as NxStage CRRT systems, Alaris IV pumps, GE cardiac monitors, and GE ventilators
• Perform continuous glucose monitoring and support specialized care for patients requiring externalized IV pumps
• Document accurately in Epic and communicate changes in condition promptly
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, IV teams, rapid response, physical therapy, social services, and other support disciplines
• Float to other units within the organization when required and contribute to a safe, patient-centered care environment
