MICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand at the time of submission; compact or Ohio license accepted
• Minimum of 2 years of recent Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) or Medical ICU nursing experience
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS/BCLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Epic electronic health record experience
• Education from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
• Demonstrated competency caring for mechanically ventilated patients and managing continuous IV sedation
• Experience interpreting and managing dysrhythmias
• Ability to manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction or failure
• Two professional references, including at least one manager, director, supervisor, or other formal leader
• Ability to complete Ohio fingerprinting and credentialing requirements promptly
• Flu vaccination required; medical exemptions may be considered

Critical Care Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adult patients in the Medical Intensive Care Unit
• Monitor and manage patients experiencing respiratory failure, sepsis, post-cardiac arrest conditions, diabetic ketoacidosis, liver failure, renal failure, COVID-related complications, and multisystem organ failure
• Care for mechanically ventilated patients and support individualized ventilator management plans
• Administer and monitor continuous IV sedation and other high-acuity therapies
• Interpret telemetry and cardiac rhythms and respond appropriately to dysrhythmias
• Perform IV starts and safely manage complex intravenous therapies
• Use continuous glucose monitoring and externalized IV pump systems when clinically indicated
• Operate and monitor specialized equipment, including NxStage CRRT, Alaris IV pumps, cardiac monitors, and ventilators
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, rehabilitation, social services, rapid response teams, IV teams, and other interdisciplinary partners
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in Epic
