Description

American Traveler is hiring a Neuro ICU RN with 2+ years of neuro ICU experience and required NIHSS certification for a night shift assignment at a teaching hospital.

Details

• Neuro Intensive Care Unit setting within a hospital environment
• Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:30 AM), 36 hours per week
• Weekend shifts defined as Friday and Saturday nights
• Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Epic EMR experience needed

Requirements

• Active OH RN license or compact license in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA certifications only)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with strong Neuro ICU background preferred
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Skills required: IV starts, telemetry monitoring, ventilator management, and intracranial pressure monitoring
• Additional skills include arterial line management, central/PICC line care, EVD and lumbar drain management, post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery care, CVA/acute stroke management, traumatic brain and spinal cord injury care, continuous IV sedation, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; charge RN acceptable as second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to neurological ICU patients including stroke, traumatic brain injury, and post-neurosurgical cases
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process promptly after signing contract, including travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location if outside the state but within driving distance
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Former employees eligible for travel assignments after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are not eligible for travel assignments
• RTO must be submitted and built into the contract prior to start, limited to 7 days or less
• First-time travelers will be considered with proper screening
