Description

American Traveler is hiring a RN for a Nephrology Med/Surg unit requiring an active IL license and at least 1 year of med/surg or nephrology experience.

Details

• Acute care Nephrology unit within a Med/Surg department
• 21-bed unit, mostly private rooms with one semi-private room, all equipped with overhead lift equipment
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights
• Patient population includes ESRD, AKI, dialysis (hemo and peritoneal), parathyroidectomy, kidney/pancreas transplant, and related surgical cases
• No requirement to titrate drips
• Charge Nurse and House Supervisor available 24/7
• PCTs available at a 1:10-11 ratio on all shifts
• No ventilator management required; respiratory therapists available for treatments
• Telemetry monitored remotely by TeleTech staff, no interpretation required by RN
• Uses EPIC EMR
• 3x12-hour shifts, days (7a-7:30p) or nights (7p-7:30a)
• Self-scheduling available with block scheduling flexibility
• Every other weekend required (Sat/Sun for days, Fri/Sat/Sun for nights)
• Every other holiday required, negotiable
• No call or standby requirements
• May float to other gen-med units and rarely to ED or ICU as a helping hand

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required, or proof application process has been initiated
• BLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
• Gen-med background required
• Nephrology or urology experience preferred
• BSN not required
• Negative drug screen required for all panels

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care including bedside reporting and hourly to bi-hourly rounding
• 3-day unit-specific orientation with a preceptor
• Cancellation policy allows up to 12 hours per 13 weeks without penalty
• Dress code allows any color scrubs; no artificial or gel nails, chipped polish, visible tattoos, or piercings beyond simple earrings
• No radius restriction, though local rate applies to candidates within 50 miles of the facility
• COVID vaccination not required for consideration
