Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night-shift hospital position requiring VA or compact RN license and Epic experience.

Details

• 12-bed Med/Surg Tele unit with a 1:4 patient ratio
• Patient population includes respiratory illness, renal disease, diabetes, sepsis, cellulitis, infections, heart failure, sickle cell, and cystic fibrosis
• Night shift, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend required
• Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays with no time off approved around Christmas
• Floating required within scope of practice per facility float policy
• Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license (pending license accepted)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg Tele experience
• Epic charting experience required
• BSN preferred
• Prior charge nurse, teaching hospital, and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Skilled in respiratory care, chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), tracheostomy care, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, heparin protocols, PCA, IV insulin protocols, insulin drip titration, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions/PPE

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a Med/Surg Tele unit managing complex, multi-system diagnoses
• Maximum of 40 hours RTO per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
• Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to plan an appropriate start date
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Previous UVA employment as permanent staff or traveler requires a minimum 1-year separation and leadership approval
• External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
• No radius restriction applies to this unit
