Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift assignment requiring a VA or compact RN license and prior telemetry experience.

Details

• Med/Surg Tele unit within a teaching hospital setting
• Patient population includes respiratory illness, renal failure, diabetes, sepsis, cellulitis, infections, heart failure, sickle cell, and cystic fibrosis cases
• Patient ratio of 1:4 days/weekends and 1:5 nights
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 19:00-7:00
• Every other weekend required, with 2 of 3 winter holidays worked
• Float required within scope of practice per facility policy
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license (pending license accepted)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• 1:5 patient ratio experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• BSN preferred
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Skills in respiratory care, chest tube management, tracheostomy care, PCA and heparin protocols, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, wound care/wound vac, and IV insulin protocol/titration preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care within a Med/Surg Tele unit, monitoring cardiac and respiratory status and managing complex medical conditions
• Maximum RTO of 40 hours per 13-week contract, must be requested at time of submission
• Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed early to plan an appropriate start date
• Previous UVA Health employees (permanent staff or travelers) must have at least 1 year of separation and leadership approval before returning
• Travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility and are not eligible to return after reaching that limit
