Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 2 years of specialty experience and MO or compact RN license in hand.

Details

  • Med/Surg Tele unit with an average daily census of 29 and 30 total beds
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15
  • Patient ratio of 1:5
  • Cares for general intermediate population including sepsis/infection, CHF, cardiac arrhythmias, AMI, CVA/TIA, altered mental status, ETOH withdrawal, SI, general post-op, ortho, and urology procedures
  • Charting done in EPIC
  • Weekend requirement of 4-6 shifts every 6 weeks
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required within scope to sister facilities and departments as needed

Requirements

  • Active RN license (MO or compact) required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current certifications: BLS and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience required, with a full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months and no employment gap greater than 90 days
  • Community hospital experience required

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care within a Med/Surg Tele unit, managing cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and post-surgical recovery
  • Navy scrub color required
  • Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be considered, as local candidates are not accepted
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days permitted, with all requests finalized at time of consideration
  • No additional RTO or schedule changes permitted after offer or onsite visit
  • First-time travelers are accepted, though prior travel experience is preferred
  • Both Kansas and Missouri licenses or compact license must be in hand due to potential floating across departments and sister facilities
  • Returning staff must have at least an 18-month tenure with a required 3-month break in service
  • Former permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
