Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift assignment requiring active NY licensure, phlebotomy and IV competency, and Epic charting experience.

Details

Med/Surg Tele unit within a hospital setting
Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
Every other weekend required
No on-call requirements
Day/evening staffing ratios of 5:1 (stretch to 6-7:1); night ratios of 6-7:1 (stretch to 8-10:1 during call-ins)
PCTs on unit support vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and ADLs
Floating required within scope to like units
Patient population includes various cancers, sickle cell crisis, sepsis, and organ failure
Uses CADD pump, SCD pump, wound vac, and tube feeding pump equipment
Epic EMR used for charting

Requirements

Active NY RN license required in hand
Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
BLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
Epic charting experience required
Mandatory competency in phlebotomy and peripheral IV placement
Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
Experience with Rapid Response/Code teams
Peripheral line care and management experience
Respiratory care skills including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, oxygen tanks, and non-invasive airway management
Isolation precautions and PPE knowledge required
Teaching hospital experience preferred

Additional Information

Provide direct patient care for a medically complex Med/Surg Tele population
Collaborate with PCTs who support daily vitals and monitoring tasks
No holiday RTO permitted; no more than 7 days RTO overall
Local candidates within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted
Scrub colors limited to navy and white combinations
Block scheduling accommodation attempted but not guaranteed
First-time travelers are welcome to apply
Previous employees must have a 6-month system-wide break in service to be eligible
