Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift assignment requiring a NY RN license and phlebotomy/IV placement competency.

Details

• MS/Tele unit within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes acute kidney injury, sepsis, COVID, alcohol withdrawal, altered mental status, and various infections (gangrene, necrotizing fasciitis, osteomyelitis, pneumonia)
• Day/evening ratios are 5:1 (stretch 6-7:1), night ratios are 6-7:1 (stretch 8-10:1 during call-offs)
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:00)
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirement
• Floating required within scope to like units
• PCTs available on all units to assist with vitals, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and ADLs
• Epic charting system preferred

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required in hand
• BLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Phlebotomy and IV placement competency required
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with Rapid Response/Code teams
• Peripheral line care and management experience
• Respiratory care skills including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE use
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a Med/Surg Tele unit including cardiac monitoring and emergency response
• Utilize special equipment such as SCD pumps, Bear Hugger warming units, wound vacs, and tube feeding pumps
• Scrubs must be navy and white or a combination of both colors
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be considered
• Previous employees must have a 6-month system-wide break in service before returning
• Requested time off should be kept close to 1 week
