Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Oncology Telemetry unit position requiring at least 2 years of RN experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

  • Work on a Medical/Surgical Oncology Telemetry unit within a cancer hospital and research center setting
  • Care for patients with soft tissue malignancies receiving diagnostic services, chemotherapy, and symptom management
  • Provide continuous cardiac monitoring related to chemotherapy administration
  • Manage comorbidities and symptoms related to disease progression or treatment
  • Strong focus on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention
  • Utilizes GE telemetry system (B450 monitors), bladder scanner, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • 16-week assignment with 12-hour rotating day/night shifts (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
  • Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on department needs
  • Required to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • EMR: Epic experience required

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, must be current and within the specialty applied for
  • BLS certification required
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Oncology experience preferred but not required
  • Skills required: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, accessing/managing ports, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care, IV starts, chest tube insertion/removal assistance, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) management, ABG interpretation, PCA medication management, and insulin drip titration
  • BiPAP/CPAP management, tracheostomy care, and chemotherapy administration skills preferred
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Two professional references required, at least one from a manager/director or supervisor; charge RN acceptable for second reference; coworker references not accepted

  • Current employees are ineligible for travel assignments at this health system
  • RTO must be submitted with contract and limited to 7 days or less
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly upon signing contract due to strict credentialing timelines
