Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Tele RN for a 13-week day shift assignment requiring 2 years of specialty experience and NIHSS certification.

Details

  • MS/Tele unit with an average daily census of 29 and 30 beds
  • Day shift schedule of three 12-hour shifts (6:45 AM to 7:15 PM)
  • Patient population includes general intermediate, sepsis/infection, wounds, CHF, cardiac arrhythmias, AMI, CVA/TIA, altered mental status, ETOH withdrawal, SI, general post-op, ortho, urology, and GI bleed cases
  • Patient ratio of 1:5
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Weekend requirement of 4-6 shifts every 6 weeks
  • Floating required within service line and to sister facilities as needed
  • EPIC charting system used

Requirements

  • Active RN license required (Missouri or Kansas, or compact license in hand)
  • Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience required, with a full year in-specialty experience within the past 12 months and no employment gap greater than 90 days
  • Community hospital experience required

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to a general intermediate patient population with a variety of acute conditions
  • Navy scrub color required
  • Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply, though travel experience is preferred
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days, with all time-off requests finalized at time of consideration and no changes permitted afterward
  • Returning staff must have an 18-month tenure with a 3-month break in service; former permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Facility may offer the position without an interview, though candidates may request one
