Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring 2 years of post-surgical experience and a NC or compact RN license.

Details

• Med/Surg Tele unit caring for surgical patients including colorectal, general surgery, hepatobiliary, and orthopedic/spine cases
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 18:45-07:15
• 36 or 48 hours per week available
• Every other weekend required
• Occasional floating required
• Self-scheduling based on unit needs with nurse manager input
• Uses Pyxis, SBAR, and Epic systems

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with post-surgical unit experience needed
• Epic charting experience required
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, central and peripheral line care, and PICC line management
• Experience with chest tubes, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and rapid response/code team involvement
• Experience with wound care/wound vac, isolation precautions/PPE, and IV insulin protocols
• Experience with feeding tube care, PCA, heparin protocols, and surgical drain management
• Experience with GI surgeries such as colon resections preferred
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

• Care for post-surgical patients across colorectal, general surgery, hepatobiliary, and orthopedic/spine specialties
• Unit orientation is 36 hours with weekly onboarding
• First-time travelers will be considered
• Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees (perm/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before applying and disclose prior employment details
• Current travel per diem clinicians must choose between per diem or travel status
• Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate
• RTO up to 7 days can be auto-approved if not on a holiday; no RTO during first week of assignment
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Travel pairs allowed if on different units and disclosed, with independent transportation
• Scrubs not provided; navy blue or white required
• Pre-start and annual online modules required, approximately 8-10 hours for acute care roles
