Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift acute care position requiring SC or compact RN license and telemetry expertise.

Details

  • Acute care hospital setting in a new MS/Tele unit built from the ground up
  • Currently staffed with 18 beds, with charge coverage split between stepdown and 3 West
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (6:45pm-7:15am)
  • Patient ratio of 1:6
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
  • No on-call requirements
  • 24/7 house supervisor coverage available, with unit leadership reachable by phone during off-shift hours
  • Uses bedside monitors capable of telemetry, blood pressure, and pulse ox monitoring
  • Epic EMR used, experience preferred

Requirements

  • Active SC RN license or compact license required in hand prior to start
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required (AHA certifications only)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • MS/Tele and telemetry experience required, including interpretation of dysrhythmias
  • Community hospital experience preferred
  • Skills in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and management of dysrhythmias preferred
  • Experience with isolation precautions/PPE, oxygen administration via nasal cannula, IV therapy/phlebotomy, peripheral line care, and renal failure management
  • Driver's license and SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care on a newly established Med/Surg Tele unit
  • Royal blue scrub color required
  • Must reside within 60 miles of the facility for local candidate consideration; non-local candidates are prioritized
  • Local candidates accepted at a reduced rate
  • Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • First-time travelers may be considered
  • Block scheduling requests may be submitted for approval but are not guaranteed
  • All requested time off must be submitted at time of application for consideration
  • Facility may cancel up to 1 shift per 2-week period
  • Employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response duties during hurricane season (June through November, with peak activity in August and September)
  • No cost for parking
