Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring SC or compact RN license and 2+ years of telemetry experience.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting on a new Med/Surg Tele unit currently building capacity with 18 beds
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 6:45pm-7:15am
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Charge duties are split between stepdown and 3 west
• Every other weekend work required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
• 24/7 house supervisor coverage available with leadership accessible by phone during off-shift hours
• Uses bedside monitors capable of telemetry, blood pressure, and pulse ox monitoring
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active SC or Compact RN license required in hand prior to start
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required (AHA certifications only)
• Experience in MS/Tele, telemetry, and interpretation of dysrhythmias required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Driver's license and SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide telemetry monitoring, cardiac monitoring, and emergency response for medical-surgical patients
• Manage and interpret dysrhythmias and perform ongoing telemetry monitoring on the unit
• Administer IV therapy, phlebotomy, and manage peripheral lines
• Provide respiratory care including oxygen administration and nasal cannula use
• Care for patients in isolation precautions using appropriate PPE
• Support patients with renal failure and genitourinary/renal needs
• Royal blue scrub color required
• Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for one year before returning as a traveler
• Local candidates accepted within a 60-mile radius at a reduced rate, with non-local candidates prioritized
• Employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June through November, peak activity in August and September)
