Travel Nursing Job Details

- Unit: Adult medical-surgical unit with telemetry capabilities
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1 nurse to 6 patients
- Charting: Epic
- Weekends: Required; approximately half of the contract's weekend shifts
- Floating: Required as needed
Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license in Texas or a compact state, in hand at the time of submission
- At least 2 years of recent medical-surgical telemetry nursing experience
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Current BLS certification
- NIHSS certification
- Recent experience caring for adult patients with vascular disease, renal failure, and telemetry needs
- Proficiency with Epic or comparable electronic health record systems
- Ability to work 12-hour day shifts, weekends, and required floating assignments
Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for adult medical-surgical and telemetry patients
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and recognize changes in patient condition
- Care for patients with vascular diagnoses, renal failure, and other medical-surgical conditions
- Administer medications, including heparin and insulin, and manage blood products as indicated
- Perform patient assessments, care planning, education, and accurate documentation in Epic
- Manage peripheral and PICC lines, central-line blood draws, IV starts, feeding tubes, ostomies, wound care, and wound vacs
- Provide oxygen therapy, including nasal cannula and high-flow nasal cannula, and support non-invasive airway management
- Interpret and respond to dysrhythmias while using appropriate escalation procedures
- Participate in rapid response and code team interventions when necessary
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to promote safe, efficient, and patient-centered care
