Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical-Surgical Telemetry Contract in Tyler, Texas
Travel Registered Nurse opportunity in Tyler, Texas for an experienced Med/Surg Tele RN seeking a 13-week contract, day shifts, and a 36-hour workweek.

- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,570–$1,650
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week
- Shift Duration: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1 nurse to 6 patients
- Weekend Requirement: Approximately half of contract shifts may be scheduled on weekends
- Patient Population: Adults, including young adults through geriatric patients
- Charting System: Epic
Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or a qualifying compact-state license in hand at the time of submission
- At least 2 years of recent medical-surgical telemetry nursing experience in an adult acute care setting
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Current BLS certification
- NIHSS certification
- Experience caring for patients with renal failure, urological conditions, post-operative needs, and telemetry diagnoses
- Proficiency with Epic or comparable electronic health record systems
- Ability to manage a 1:6 patient assignment while providing safe, timely, and compassionate patient care
- Availability to float to units of equal or lesser acuity when needed
- All requested time off must be disclosed during submission, and required onboarding items must be completed promptly
Travel Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical and telemetry patients
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize dysrhythmias, and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
- Care for patients recovering from prostate, bladder, and kidney procedures, as well as patients experiencing renal stones or renal failure
- Perform bladder scans, three-way catheter irrigation, incontinence care, and other urological nursing interventions
- Administer medications, including heparin and insulin, and manage IV therapies, PCA pumps, blood products, and oxygen delivery systems
- Provide central line, PICC line, peripheral line, feeding tube, ostomy, wound, and wound-vac care as indicated
- Complete comprehensive nursing assessments, develop and update individualized plans of care, and accurately document in Epic
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory services, pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams
- Identify changes in patient status and initiate appropriate interventions, including use of rapid response and code team resources
- Promote patient safety through effective communication, isolation precautions, fall prevention, and evidence-based nursing practices
