Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift float pool position at a teaching hospital requiring 2 years of experience and previous travel experience.

Details

• Med/Surg Telemetry float pool position within a teaching hospital setting
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM), 36 hours per week
• Float required within OSU hospital system
• Some weekends and holidays required
• Requires IV start and telemetry monitoring skills
• EPIC EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required; ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred
• Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and blood product administration
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and oxygen administration
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and Rapid Response/Code team response
• Experience with neurological conditions including CVA, TBI, and pre/post neurosurgery care preferred
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and heparin protocols
• Experience in orthopedics, including ortho trauma and total joint replacement preferred
• Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
• 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor; charge RN acceptable for second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

• Provide care to Med/Surg Telemetry patients, floating within the OSU hospital system as needed
• Complete Ohio fingerprinting process promptly upon signing contract due to strict compliance timelines
• RTO must be submitted with application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
• Current employees are ineligible to be hired as travelers at any Ohio State University hospital location
• First-time travelers not considered for this role given travel experience requirement
