  • Float: May float to nearby postpartum and labor & delivery areas as needed

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of Mother/Baby, postpartum, or high-acuity obstetric nursing experience required
  • Active Registered Nurse license required; compact license must be in hand at submission if applicable
  • BLS and NRP required
  • Epic experience required
  • Experience caring for high-risk obstetric patients strongly preferred
  • Ability to manage a 4-couplet assignment in a high-census environment
  • Experience with magnesium therapy, Pitocin, Foley management, postpartum hemorrhage, and substance withdrawal preferred
  • JADA experience preferred
  • Comfort with floating and supporting a collaborative maternal-newborn care team

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate, patient-centered postpartum and couplet care following delivery
  • Monitor recovery, assess fundus/lochia/perineum, and support routine newborn and maternal care
  • Care for high-risk obstetric patients with professionalism and clinical confidence
  • Administer and monitor therapies such as magnesium sulfate and Pitocin as ordered
  • Recognize and respond to postpartum hemorrhage and other urgent changes in condition
  • Support patients with Foley care, episiotomy/incision care, and recovery needs
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners to ensure safe, coordinated maternal and newborn care
  • Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and uphold unit standards
  • Adapt to census surges and contribute to smooth, efficient unit operations
