CVICU Travel Nurse Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,560–$2,700

CVICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois, or confirmation that the Illinois RN license application process has been initiated
- At least 2 years of recent CVICU or cardiovascular ICU nursing experience
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
- Certified Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to care for high-acuity cardiovascular and critically ill patients with minimal ramp-up time
- Strong cardiac rhythm interpretation, patient assessment, critical thinking, communication, organization, and time-management skills
- Ability to titrate vasoactive, sedative, analgesic, anticoagulant, and other critical care medications according to orders and protocols
- Ability to float to appropriate levels of care and accept a full patient assignment
CVICU Travel Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive bedside nursing care for post-cardiac surgery, vascular, and critically ill patients
- Care for patients with conditions and interventions including CABG, valve procedures, dissections, AAA, carotid procedures, STEMI, NSTEMI, cardiogenic shock, severe heart failure, cardiomyopathy, TAVR, and cardiovascular emergencies
- Manage ventilated patients and patients requiring CPAP, BiPAP, heated high-flow oxygen, and nitric oxide therapy
- Monitor and manage advanced equipment such as IABPs, Impellas, Swan-Ganz catheters, temporary pacemakers, ECMO, and CRRT
- Assess and manage PICCs, midlines, central venous catheters, pulmonary artery catheters, and radial or femoral arterial lines
- Interpret cardiac monitoring strips and recognize changes in patient condition promptly
- Titrate medications such as vasopressors, inotropes, sedatives, analgesics, insulin, heparin, and antihypertensive infusions according to protocols and provider orders
- Collaborate with advanced practice providers, physicians, respiratory therapists, patient care technicians, and the interdisciplinary care team
- Deliver organized, compassionate care in a fast-paced, high-acuity CVICU while maintaining accurate Epic documentation
- Promote patient safety, follow clinical protocols, and communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members
