Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical ICU position requiring 2+ years of current critical care experience and an active OH or compact license.

Details

  • Medical ICU setting caring for adults and geriatric patients
  • Common diagnoses include oncologic emergencies, COPD, pneumonia, ARDS, GI bleed, neuromuscular disease, drug overdose, oncologic treatment complications, pulmonary hypertension, autoimmune disorders, and sepsis
  • Common treatments include mechanical ventilation, pulmonary artery catheter placement, CRRT, arterial pressure monitoring, cardiac monitoring, chest tubes, central venous catheters, chemotherapy administration, clinical trials, and plasmapheresis
  • Patients may require bronchoscopy or endoscopy for underlying pulmonary and GI conditions
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00-7:30
  • May be scheduled as rotating days/nights depending on department needs with shift assignments reviewed every 4-week period
  • EPIC EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of current acute care MICU experience within the last 12 months
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Skills required include IV therapy, port access/management, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care, BiPAP/CPAP management, care of ventilated patients, HFNC, ABG interpretation, suctioning, ventilator management, continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation monitoring, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV insulin protocols, and management of multisystem organ dysfunction
  • EVD experience preferred
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor and the second from a manager/director or charge RN; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to hemodynamically compromised MICU patients requiring complex monitoring and treatment
  • Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process immediately upon signing contract, with in-state travel or mailed packet required depending on candidate location
  • Former employees eligible for travel assignment after being away from facility for 6+ months
  • Current employees at any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible to be hired as a traveler
  • RTO must be submitted with contract request and limited to 7 days or less
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
