Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring 2 years of experience and NC or compact RN licensure, with first-time travelers welcome.

Details

• 40-bed Medical Surgical unit with an emphasis in Bariatrics and Orthopedics providing 24-hour inpatient care
• Patient population includes adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Target ratios of 1:5-7, which may fluctuate based on unit needs and surge
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts (18:45-07:15), 3x per week
• 36 or 48 hours per week available
• Floating required within or near the facility
• Weekend requirement of 2-3 shifts in a 6-week period
• Uses PYXIS, EPIC, SBAR, and Voalte systems

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license (pending license/certs OK for consideration)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS, IV Start, and Telemetry
• ACLS certification preferred
• EPIC charting experience preferred
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care/management, cardiac monitoring and emergency response, dysrhythmia interpretation, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE, nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management
• Must maintain hand hygiene compliance of 75%
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required (pending references OK at submission)

• Provide medical-surgical and telemetry nursing care with a focus on bariatric and orthopedic patients
• Foster collegial relationships with physicians and support an environment aligned with facility mission, vision, and values
• 36-hour unit orientation with mandatory availability during week one for hospital orientation
• Scrubs not provided; navy or white or a combination of the two required
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Previous PERM/PRN/EP employees of Novant Health or New Hanover must wait 12 months before applying and disclose prior employment details
• Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved if not on a holiday; no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Travel pairs allowed if on different units, with own transportation and disclosed at submission
• Minimum 13-week contract length, with the unit accepting 20+ week contracts up to February 27, 2027
