Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Tele RN for a night shift contract requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and NIHSS certification at a Level 3 Trauma center.

Details

• Medical/Surgical Overflow unit within a Level 3 Trauma, Stroke Center of Excellence, Bariatric Center of Excellence, and Chest Pain Center hospital
• Average daily census of 51 patients
• Patient population includes chronic disease, CHF, mental health/addiction services requiring extended IV antibiotics, COPD, DM, wound care, and geriatric care
• RN to patient ratio of 1:4-6 (acuity dependent), surging to 1:7-8 during peak times; CNA ratio of 1:7
• Requires cardiac rhythm interpretation and management of non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone)
• Uses EPIC EMR system
• Department equipment includes scales, GBS machine, transfer device, vein finder, EKG, crash cart, telemedicine cart, and doppler
• 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700), 36 hours per week on a 6-week schedule cycle
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call requirements
• First priority floating to other nursing units within scope of practice, including floating across multiple facilities within the region as needed

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• IV start skills, blood product administration, and wound care/dressing change experience required
• Experience with tubes and drains care required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care including cardiac monitoring, wound care, and management of complex chronic conditions
• Support team includes Nurse Manager, Administrative Clinical Supervisor, Clinical Supervisor, staff RNs, CNAs, Clinical Mentor, Rapid Response RN, and House Supervisor
• Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Travelers will work 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be made up by extending the contract
• Navy blue scrubs required
